Stage 2 · Monaco → Manosque

Stage 2: Monaco → Manosque

Over 215 kilometers from Monaco to Manosque, it's Matthew Brennan who surges in the massive sprint to claim victory, ahead of Pau Miquel and a Tadej Pogačar who calmly keeps red and green on his shoulders without having to push hard.

So, who saw the young Briton coming? Only 40 players out of 803! But what a great bunch: Yvette, SHISHI, corsaire, Laura, samourai93, bastdu68297, Bram N., WILBRO, yannmer, BenoMerc, yanis, Yann, Tiger6793 and KEREL are among the lucky few. A winning bet on the stage winner, that's often where the standings get reshuffled. On the podium, 337 of the 804 participants had the right combination, and they were right to tick it. The massive sprint finish type only convinced 115 players, while the majority had correctly anticipated that the breakaway wouldn't hold (572 points) and that Pogačar wouldn't let go of his red (533 players got it right). On the other hand, Hugo Hofstetter best Franco-Belgian: barely 6 people out of 804 had sensed it, an almost perfect score reserved for true connoisseurs.

SHISHI and Yvette dominate the day tied with 41 points each on this stage - the winning combination + good side bets, formidable. bastien blan, Bram N., Florentgirard and PaulW follow at 35 points on the stage, a fine vintage of the day.

In the general classification (804 active participants out of 818), Yvette takes the lead for the first time with 50 points and symbolically dons the red jersey of this Vuelta. SHISHI climbs ten places to settle in second at 47 points, just 3 lengths back. Behind, a tight quartet at 41 points: bastien blan, Bram N., Florentgirard and PaulW all sit 3rd. Olivier Chaprier, the hero of the opening time trial who was galloping in the lead, drops 6 places and finds himself 7th: the law of the sprint is merciless. Special mention to Niels D. who makes a leap of 182 places to reach 24th, and to ROC who climbs 154 positions up to 27th place - the best rockets of the day.

Finally, 48 players leave Manosque empty-handed: the virtual peloton also has its lanterne-rouges, and they still have some great stages ahead to turn things around.
