Tournament predictions: what happened, and how we fixed it

At ScoreMigos, fair play comes first. Following a report (thanks to those who flagged it), we investigated a possible change of tournament predictions after the deadline. Here, in full transparency, is what we found, what we fixed, and the proof that everything is traceable. No one is accused of cheating.

What happened: a design flaw (not player cheating) on late-registration contests. Players who made their first tournament prediction after the World Cup kick-off (11 June), and who joined a contest with a late registration deadline (up to 5 July, like the special contest), were wrongly given a window that still let them change their tournament predictions (champion, finalists, top scorer) until then, well after the group stage. Because these base predictions are shared across contests, the change carried over to their other groups. The players involved acted in good faith: the interface offered them this option, so the responsibility lies with the system, not with them. It is a bug, with consequences traced and repaired.

The intended rule: tournament predictions were to be frozen at the kick-off of the knockout stage, on 28 June at 21:00. A short grace period, until 29 June at 19:00, was allowed ONLY to complete fields left empty (for those who had not filled anything yet) - that is compliant. Never to replace an already-encoded choice.

Contests affected (shared base predictions of the players below): Mondial ScoreMigos, Poudlard, Team DIego, BRINKS NIGHT, Fifa oslm, Best Friends, REA2026.

Contests NOT affected (no change, everything stayed frozen): the special knockout-stage contest itself, Big Bets, the Tour de France, and all other groups. Proof: their tournament predictions were properly locked.

The 14 affected players, anonymised (we show the group, the before/after prediction and the exact times, never the name). These predictions have been RESTORED to their valid value, and the points recomputed. In small groups, members might recognise themselves, but the goal here is transparency, not blame.

Fix applied: each prediction was restored to its valid value (the one before the change), points were recomputed identically for everyone, and the code was fixed: no change is possible any more after the knockout kick-off, even by trying to bypass the interface. An automated test prevents any relapse.
